MY GRANNY is an intimate portrait of my grandmother Else Rorarius, born in 1914 in Pomerania, in present-day Poland. A documentary of the relationship with her husband who died in the second world war and left my father only 10 days after his birth.

Else Rorarius grew up with her eleven siblings on the court of the parents. After she met my grandfather at a dance, they married in 1941 and moved to Berlin. During World War II my grandfather was stationed as a soldier and became ill with typhus. He died 10 days after the birth of their common child: my father. Despite the difficult circumstances during and after the war my granny is a fun-loving woman and talks in her wonderful way of the memories of her youth. The film stands as a synonym for an everyday fate at that time.
